Brighton200-The Bicentennial Celebration!

Welcome to the Town of Brighton Bicentennial website! Brighton’s first Town Board meeting was held in Stones’s tavern on what is now East Avenue on April 5, 1814, and we plan to celebrate 200 years of Brighton’s growth and history throughout 2014. On this website, you will find a listing of Bicentennial activities, as well as interesting information about the first 200 years of Brighton’s history. Bicentennial activities are being coordinated by a Bicentennial Committee, chaired by former Brighton Councilmember Ray Tierney, and we encourage you to return to this site frequently for updates on those activities.

Brighton is a diverse community of neighbors and neighborhoods, and through this celebration of our first 200 years, we hope you will gain a greater appreciation of Brighton’s past and share the excitement that I have, not just for this Bicentennial year, but for the future of Brighton and what the next 200 years will bring for our hometown.
